Artist in the middle
In each issue we would like to feature the work of an emerging artist or designer – as a pull out centre insert that we call the ‘Artist in the Middle’. So that each magazine brings with it an art work that can be removed and collected. Here we collect the work featured so far.
Issue 1
‘Processing’ by Joseph Cox
Joseph Cox is a graphic artist based in Hull with 10 years’ experience in the creative industries.
He co-founded Form Shop and Studio, where he creates prints and products for the shop as well as working on commissions for a range of local and national organisations. His work includes the branding and design for Humber Street Sesh urban festival and leading the design on ‘Our City of Culture’ campaign commissioned by Hull City Council for the city’s successful bid for the 2017 City of Culture title – including the design of a map, bid document case, t-shirts, city-wide posters and more.
Issue 2
‘Ships in the Sky’ by Jake Machen
Jake Machen is an Illustrator and cartoonist who lives in and studied in Hull. Regularly working with bands and musicians, his work includes record artwork and merch designs for the likes of The Hubbards and La Bete Blooms, as well as screen print designs for independent apparel shop Beasley’s. Issue 1 of his zine Hoarder Bros produced with his brother Max is now available.
